Rationale

On The Move is a pop up exhibition focusing all about the wondrous and also quite mysterious nature of the process of animal migration. It resides in the London Zoo, starting on the 5th of October as that is when the great migration is already in motion at its earliest stage. I really wanted to show the magical feeling, the bright and wondrous event in the use of my colour palette.

I broke the traditional brand rules and expanded my selected colours, giving every animal kingdom its very own bright and warm colour. This can be seen throughout everything I have designed for the exhibition. I have made it a key point to make sure the whole even is inclusive and also informative and fun as seen by the colouring books for children and the publication leaflets for adults.

Colours of the Kingdoms

Grads-01_edited.png

Each 6 of the animal kingdoms has been given colour, as well as a gradient. A gradient? Yes. This was a decision to help make the colours stand out as well as create some subtle ties to making the colour look like it was moving in a sense. I didn't want static block colours so I decided to go with these subtle colour shifting gradients.

Informational Pamphlets

So, we understand that everyone knows the basics, you know? Like, the cheetah is the fastest land animal, but do you know the scientific name of a chameleon? The lifespan of a tortoise? Or that there is a whopping 2400 species of insects known to date? Neither did I till researching it for the this leaflet design.

Here there would be a pile of each leaflet in each exhibition section of the museum. With their respective colours and even their habitats depicted in white silhouettes.

Animal Specialists

Grads-03_edited.png

Posters that would be displayed outside of the exhibition space would depict the animals migrating as that is what the exhibition is about. Also used the colours I have given the kingdoms and then linked that to the poster designs. I made the exhibition logo weave in and out the migrating animals to show the motion of the them. I wanted both, the photo as well as the logo to be the main focal point.

Specialist can be located around the exhibition space. They can be identified by their tags, being a specialist in all areas is impressive but for each animal kingdom there will be an allocated professional you can go to, talk about what you discover or ask them any questions you want to know the answers to. The colours play a big role for the branding and identification of the information.

Fun but also Educational

Here are some educational colouring books that can be found in the gift shop. The animal world is full of colours. As well as cool interesting facts. So let's merge the two. With six animal kingdoms, that's how many books there are. Each one is represented with its allocated colour. The left page shows their habitats with white silhouettes as well as a list of interesting facts and a global map that would tell you where they can be located.

A Cafe for when you're on the move...

The Watering Hole is a cafe located in the museum. Named after a local gathering spot where animals regularly go-to drink. Matching perfectly. Leaping on from this, the cafe will always serve a takeaway variant if you were needing to keep on moving.

Keeping with the same design theme of weaving the images in with the logo. The travel cups have coffee beans thrown in the air. Showing motion, as well as the tea leaves for the tea cups. Safari Salad also does the same with salad ingredients.
