Rationale
Zeiss Universarium, named after the projector within the Griffith Observatory. A type face that embodies travel, a journey to our solar system. Each constellation being a start and end of the story, extending with each letter and word that is typed. Constellations are a man-made thing. Poets and storytellers alike use them to enhance the narrative they are trying to sell. With this in mind I have used a mono-linear design to enhance the man-made concept, making it cold and inorganic, mixed with these constellations that conform within this man-made structure of the type.
Further linking to the Observatory domes, where these natural objects, the stars; projected, captured and confined into a metal, rounded room. In addition, I have a lower and uppercase set. The lowercase being the foundation of the font without the constellations. The upper being with them. This is to link to the projector once more. We can turn these constellations off and on, at a whim of a button press. Essentially turning the users’ caps lock into an on and off button.
